An advertising strategy for the new millennium.
What is affiliate marketing?
Entering this Realm of the online world you are being marketed too. No differently than looking at a billboard, seeing commercials on TV, or ads in a magazine. Advertising was around a long time before the internet. I’m sure we are all familiar with the image of a kid standing on a corner selling newspapers calling out “extra extra read all about it” like a barker at a carnival. It’s all marketing an attempt to get your attention in the hopes that you will buy their product.
Virtually every site you go to on the web is going to have a banner ad, link, or an actual product or service all designed to get you to purchase their product or service. You can have the greatest products in the world but nobody will buy them if they don’t know about them. That is where marketing comes in letting people know about your product so they can try them.
Affiliate marketing fundamentally allows individuals to be the advertising agencies for companies that wish to market their products on the internet. It is a low cost way to start an internet business. If you are interested in affiliate marketing but not familiar with marketing or how to make a web page you can join an affiliate marketing online program.
Creating a web presence
Creating a web presence is not that difficult, some people may already have a web presence larger than what they realize. If you are using social media Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or even Linkedin you have a presence on the web. Googling your name, the more relevant content about you that comes up shows that you have a presence on the web. Although there are rules within the different platforms, there are advertisers marketing to you in some way through all of them.
When you are trying to sell products having a presence on the internet is not enough, you must make your presence known. In a sense, it is like a barker on the world wide web. You first need a website and also a domain then you need to get indexed on the search engines. Picture yourself as that paperboy selling the Wall Street Journal obviously the closer you are to Wall Street the better your sales are going to be, but you have come late to the game and all the good corners are already taken up by other news paperboys and you have to start far away from your intended customers. That is kind of how it is when you first start on the internet. Affiliate marketing has been around for a while and unless you have some new hot niche that becomes an instant sensation you will have to jostle for space among the others.
Reaching your intended audience
How do you reach your intended audience on the internet? Well simply put it is through keywords & content. When you do a search on the internet the search engine uses keywords to find the content that you are looking for. When content matches the words used in the search then your web page will be included in the results that appear. Where you are indexed and how much authority your web page has will determine how high up on the list your website will appear.
Most of the people searching on the internet do not go past the first page of results so being high on the list is crucial to getting traffic to your site. Though, as I have said before the search engines are not the only way to get visitors to your site. If you use social media you can let your friends and followers know about your site and if you are creating trust and providing them with products and services that give them solutions to their problems they may tell others. Word of mouth is one of the best forms of advertising available, an endorsement from a satisfied customer.
All of these terms like indexing, authority, and traffic can be confusing if you are not familiar with them, starting a website with no previous web experience can be a very daunting task. With an affiliate marketing online program you can get help from people that are already doing it and show you how to set up your online business. There are also tools and resources available to allow you to start a website with very little cost.
Why use an affiliate marketing online program?
Why use an affiliate Marketing online program? Well when you are new to it starting a website can be very overwhelming. There is so much you need to know, new terms that you’ve never heard before like SEO. There are programs like WordPress that you can use. But there is so much involved in making your own website you can spend a lot of money and a lot of time trying to figure it all out spending months trying to develop your website. Most people don’t even know what a niche is much less which one they are going to use. Trying to develop a program of your own from scratch could take years. Trial and error could cost you a lot of money over a period.
There are sites out there selling programs promising large returns for big ticket items. Usually you are required to purchase these items before you are allowed to sell them. For lack of a better term I like to think of this as a circle jerk the same as an MLM. You pay to get in and convince others to join so you can make commissions from their sales or their purchases. That does not feel right to me.
I personally use a program called Wealthy Affiliate and it is what I recommend. They do not mess around with a bunch of motivational speeches, testimonials, and other things that have nothing to do with why you are here. We welcome you and tell you to try the training where they start with talking about a niche and once you have one you start building your website.
If you are asking why I am okay with promoting a service with a recurring charge but not a large up front payment I will tell you. We are committed to helping you succeed because we are selling a service. When there is no value you will not stay there is no risk in taking the free trial. Buying a program with a large up front fee puts you in a situation where you have already paid and if you are not satisfied then you need to go through the hassle of getting a refund.
Doing your homework!
I can’t help it I love word play get it work from home “homework”. Okay back to the serious stuff. There is a psychology behind sales. The stupidest commercials you see are intended that way because advertisers believe that you will remember them. The jingles that are catchy are designed for the same reason. Everything in advertising is about conversions and they study the results to know what works. When you go to a website and they throw up a timer to show you that an offer will expire that is to create a sense of urgency which compels you to buy.
Why am I telling you this? There are sites doing comparisons, ratings, and versus all over the internet and that is not my thing statistically my site is your first stop when researching and the comparison sites are the place you will convert. I am not willing to play games and treat my readers like guppies. I have more respect for you than that I want you to be well-informed and make your decisions based on good advice rather than manipulation.
